Who we are

What we do

  • Higher

Series with at least one Native writer, director, and/or executive producer had higher average IMDb ratings than series with none.

  • Higher Support

A study found that viewers with higher exposure to Native American characters and storylines held greater support for Native American issues and were more likely to consume media featuring other cultures.

  • <¼ of 1%

Native Americans are nearly invisible in Hollywood — making up less than one quarter of one percent of all speaking characters across 1,600 top films spanning 16 years (2007-2022).

Do’s & Don’ts

Authentic Native American and Indigenous representation can come to a project through many different roles. In addition consultants who can root your project in authentic and historical representation, hire writers, producers, directors, actors and department heads who have lived experiences as a Native people and see the story expand. Strawberry Moon can help make those connections.

Don't rely on one subject matter expert to speak for a Nation’s entire history and culture. Ditch the “easy button” and the need for quick solutions. Work with intention and explore the variety of ways you can creatively expand your project.

Be curious. Ask questions. Seek connection. Many Americans know little to nothing about Native American history and culture. Blind spots are to be expected. Consult with Strawberry Moon to deepen your understanding, build meaningful relationships to modern Native American creatives and people, mitigate unintentional harm and tell expansive stories.

Don't work with unchecked assumptions, perpetuate stereotypes, develop projects with harmful blind spots or assume there’s no one to help you tell a story that is both creative and authentic. We live in an abundant world. Work with Strawberry Moon to find those connections.
